Field Technician Overview

DRS Field Technicians are responsible for installing, upgrading, and servicing DISH residential satellite systems. Prior satellite experience not required but a plus. We provide paid training to get you up to speed and enhancing your ability to earn performance bonuses quickly.

Job Responsibilities

As a DRS Technician, you are responsible for the installation, upgrades, and servicing of DISH Products. This is performed in the customer's home, in their presence, and without supervision.

As a DRS Tech, a typical day sets up like this:
  • Calling each customer to give them a status of your estimated time of arrival and keeping them updated throughout the day
  • Upon arrival, introducing yourself to the customer and confirming the scheduled work
  • Evaluate job site to assess optimal placement of satellite dish and communicates with customers to review the installation process
  • Troubleshoot DISH systems to determine the appropriate resolution for reported problems with usage
  • Provides customer education regarding system usage
  • Confirm system is working and customer's expectations have been met
  • Close jobs in accordance with DRS policies and procedures
  • While on-site, maintaining a safe and clean work environment
Skills of a successful DRS Tech:
  • Effectively interact verbally with our customers providing an excellent customer experience for every DRS customer
  • Use your problem-solving and technical skills to guarantee all work is professionally done
  • Manage the administrative processes including van inventory and appropriate documentation
  • Offer consultative in-home products and solutions to assist the customer, such as surge protectors or other similar items.
  • Professionally maintain your company-issued vehicle
  • Effectively manage your assigned inventory

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at Least 18 Years Old
  • Valid Florida Drivers’ License*
  • Excellent Driving Record
  • Clean Criminal Background Check (lifetime scope on felony convictions or adjudication withheld)
  • Ability to pass pre-hire physical assessment
  • Drug-Free Workplace

*If you do not have a FL drivers license but have a valid license from another state you may apply but will be required to obtain a FL license prior to starting employment.

Additional Requirements:
  • Willing to Work Flexible Hours, Including Weekends and Holidays. You Will Be Compensated for Overtime
  • Strong Technical, Customer Service, Verbal and Writing Skills
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Ability to Read and Comprehend English-only Technical Schematics, Tech Manuals and Memos
  • Ability to Move Up to 75 Pounds and Lift Up to 125 Pounds
  • Comfortable Working in Small Spaces and/or Various Heights including Attics, Crawl Spaces, and Under Homes
  • Ability to Safely Operate a Motor Vehicle
  • Ability to Climb and Work from Ladders and other Elevated Surfaces in a Safe Manner
  • Maintain A Body Weight Limit of 275 lbs.(ladder safety)
  • Able to Work in a Variety of Climates: Heat, Rain, Cold, Wind, etc.
  • Satellite or Cable Installation Experience is a Plus, but not required
  • Background Check, Motor Vehicle record check, Drug Test and Physical Demands Assessment Will Be Performed as Part of Pre-employment testing
